Introduction
Nowadays there are twelve monarchies in Europe such as the Kingdoms of Belgium, Denmark, Spain or Vatican. But the most famous one is the British Monarchy. The Monarchy of the United Kingdom, commonly called the British Monarchy, is a government system based on the Westminster System. It is a constitutional monarchy in which a hereditary monarch is the sovereign of the United Kingdom and of its overseas territory. The monarch detains the executive, judicial and legislative powers. The British Monarch is the supreme governor of the English Church and the head of states of the sixteen kingdoms of the Commonwealth Realm. He has been also, since George VI, the symbolic chief of the Commonwealth which is composed of fifty-four countries. Moreover, the monarch is by tradition Commander-in-chief of the British Armed Forces. The current governing family is the Windsor Family. The British Monarchy adapted crossbar of the generations but it is always here whereas a lot of European states became Republics. The Queen Elizabeth II has reigned for 62 years and a few days. It is currently the second longest reign for a British monarch: only Queen Victoria, her great-great-grandmother, reigned longer, at over 63 years and 7 months. So we can wonder how has the British Monarchy adapted to a modern society? First of all, we are going to see the monarchy and its political power, then we will see the monarchy and its economic power and finally we are going to see the media-coverage of the monarchy.
